Build Update, 27 June 2018: News and views from around the site
by Jo Clarke, Marketing and Communications Officer
Welcome to this month’s Build Update which rounds up a number of pieces of news and information from The Box, Plymouth’s construction site.
As is the custom, here’s the latest lapse footage from the web cam for your viewing pleasure!
Those of you who walk past the site may have noticed that our building contractors Willmott Dixon have now established a dedicated graffiti zone on Chapel Lane.
Willmott Dixon have been sharing news from the site on our Twitter account this month, offering some great insights into what’s happening. These images show one of the carpenters fixing the last few roof timbers for what will be the glass link between the old and new buildings.
We’re unfortunately not able to offer any public hard hat tours at the moment due to the level of activity that’s taking place on site, but Willmott Dixon are still facilitating private tours for organised groups where possible. They welcomed local construction representatives for a site tour on 19 June. Here are a couple of shots from their visit that were shared on social media.
Here’s a view they also shared of the exterior of St Luke’s. In the far left you can see how the new exhibitions workshop is really coming together. The last time we shared an image of this only the steel frame and some of the concrete blockwork was in place.
Finally, can you believe this month marks a year since mechanical demolition work took place on site and construction work began?! This video which stitches together clips from all our time lapse footage to date shows what a difference those twelve months have made.
I’ll have another Build Update for you in late July. For now, I’ll leave you with an up-to-date image taken from the web cam just a couple of days ago.
