Light Fantastic

Plymouth, Devonport and Stonehouse
1914-2014
Three Towns – One City

This special celebration in lights took place in November 2014 to commemorate the amalgamation of the ‘Three Towns’ of Plymouth, Devonport and East Stonehouse in 1914.

Photo: Dom MooreIconic buildings across each of the original three town communities became illuminated beacons as they were brought to life with photos, images and memories that celebrated the last century.

The projections were created by artists, Illuminos and the project received funding support from Arts Council England.
On Friday 28 November 2014, community-inspired illuminations took place at Smeaton’s Tower lighthouse on The Hoe, Devonport Guildhall and the Palace Theatre in Stonehouse. You can see some images here.

On Saturday 28 November 2014, a ‘Grand Finale’ projection took place at Plymouth Guildhall and the Civic Centre.
