The Virgin, Star of the Sea. This sea-worn Madonna was salvaged from a lost cargo of marble and can be viewed in her own little shrine with the Pole Star shining over her.

Project Description

Photograph of offerings left on the Stella Maris shrineAs the patron saint of mariners she would have been much in the mind of seafarers as they left the safety of Plymouth for an uncertain future. The salvaged sculpture has been sited on the Barbican looking out at the harbour, watching over all who go to sea.
