Traditional Craft

Knitters DSC_0067

The Traditional Craft Group was set up in partnership with the Plymouth and District Racial Equality Council for women of all ages and backgrounds to come together to share and learn traditional crafts.

The group has grown in membership and now attracts over 40 regulars. The majority of members practise knitting and crochet and whether you are an advanced knitter or a keen novice you can be sure of a warm welcome.

..whether you’re an advanced knitter or a keen novice you will be assured a warm welcome..

The group undertake regular projects for a variety of local charities and each year host a ‘Big Knit’ event which is open to anyone and involves local school children. We celebrated our tenth anniversary in 2018!

The group meet every Friday from 10am – 12noon in the Charter Room, floor 2 at Plymouth Guildhall and is co-ordinated by freelance textile artist Helen Round. There is a voluntary subscription fee of £1 per week.

Come along and join in!

“I come because it helped me meet other people. I like being with friends and it’s more than a group, it’s a family.”

“Everyone is very welcoming. It’s a chance for some ‘me time’. Seeing what others create is also very inspiring”

“It’s an enjoyable way to knit for good causes, meet new people and learn new skills.”
