Your Recipes, Your Heritage

A new food heritage project for Plymouth

women filling pasties on a production line‘Your Recipes, Your Heritage’ is a 2 year partnership project with meals on wheels service CaterEd and Age UK Plymouth. It will delve into the personal recipe books of the people of Plymouth to create some new and exciting heritage themed menus.

Our aim is to explore the history and changing fashions of our eating habits over the last century. We’ll be taking a fun look at the foods which have sustained and delighted Plymouth over the last 100 years.

The project is also looking to create valuable opportunities for people of all ages to come together to share both meals and stories.

In the future, we plan to deliver new educational resources designed for older people to use in their homes that explore the wealth of collections we have at The Box.

We’d be interested to hear from you, the people of Plymouth!

We are looking for your favourite family recipes – sweet or savoury. The ones you’ve scribbled down on bits of paper and kept for years, those recipes that have been passed down through generations, or simply favourites that have perhaps gone out of fashion.

Do you have any memories of food or eating out in Plymouth you’d like to share with us ? Send us a photo or use the form below to get in touch.

If you’re including a photo of your recipe, we’d prefer to see images of your handwritten recipes, rather than copies of printed publications.
