Ron Andrews glass plate collection

A notable collection of glass plates acquired by Mr Ron Andrews some 25 years ago following a house clearing. Around 1,000 plates were found under the floorboards of a house that was being demolished in Plympton. The collection was cared for by Mr. Andrews until being deposited at SWIB for safe-keeping in June 2010.

There are around 1,000 photographs within the collection which show various notable events and personalities in Plymouth during the 1920s. Since being deposited, we have undertaken research using the original newspapers at Plymouth Local Studies Library and now believe the plates form part of the Western Morning News Archive of negatives that are held within Plymouth Museums Galleries Archives.
