Final Victoria Cross paving slab unveiled to honour First World War hero

PRESS RELEASE: The fourth and final commemorative paving slab dedicated to the Plymouth and Devonport-born soldiers who were awarded the Victoria Cross for their acts of bravery during the First World War has been unveiled on the Hoe.

The slab is in honour of Brigadier Sir Arnold Horace Santo Waters VC, CBE, DSO, MC (23 September 1886 – 22 January 1981).

First World War hero honoured with new commemorative paving slab

PRESS RELEASE: A third commemorative paving slab dedicated to the Plymouth and Devonport-born soldiers who received the Victoria Cross for their courage during World War I was unveiled on the Hoe earlier today.

The slab is in memory of George William St. George Grogan, VC, CB, CMG, DSO & Bar (1 September 1875-3 January 1962).

City unveils second commemorative slab in honour of First World War hero

PRESS RELEASE: The second of four commemorative paving slabs dedicated to Plymouth and Devonport-born soldiers who received the Victoria Cross for their courage during the First World War has been unveiled on the Hoe.

The slab is located near the Plymouth War Memorial, at the junction of Citadel Road and Lockyer Street, and is in memory of Captain John James Crowe VC (28 December 1876-27 February 1965).

City unveils commemorative slab in honour of First World War hero

PRESS RELEASE: The first of four commemorative paving slabs dedicated to Plymouth-born soldiers who received the Victoria Cross for their bravery during World War I has been unveiled on the Hoe.

The slab is in memory of Alfred Joseph Richards VC (21 June 1879 – 21 May 1953) – a Plymouth-born soldier who served in the Lancashire Fusiliers and who saw action at Gallipoli, Turkey.
