A History Centre partnership project delivered by Peninsula Arts and Plymouth City Museum and Art Gallery
Curated by Lara Goodband, Sea Swim

Explore the sensations, stories and psychological effects of sea bathing in this nationally touring exhibition.

‘Head Above Water’ reveals the swimmer’s experience through film, photography, sculpture, drawing and poetry.

Through working with swimmers from Plymouth it also looks at how swimming in the sea changes the way people feel themselves to be in their bodies.

Featured artists include Sally Barker, Tessa Bunney, Gary Coyle, Dorothy Cross, Lynn Dennison, Peter Matthews, Heinrich & Palmer, Simon Pope, Gayle Chong Kwan, Anna Sikorska, Kit Wise and Sea Swim.

Following its showing in Plymouth the exhibition will also travel to Strange Cargo in Folkestone and Crescent Arts in Scarborough.
