Come along to our special event filled with pasty-themed fun for all ages!
Find out about the history of the pasty and some of the changing food fashions of the last century, see images and archive film footage from our collections, capture your own pictures in our photo booth and test out your taste buds with exotic and historic pasty fillings.
Executive Chef Dez Turland will be on hand throughout the day to demonstrate the art of pasty crimping and help you if you want to have a go yourself!
Why not bring in your favourite recipes and food-related memories for our ‘Your Recipes, Your Heritage’ project?
All these activities are free with no need to book.
‘Tasty Insights into the South West’s Favourite Portable Dinner’
From 11am to 12pm, food and nutrition expert and lecturer at the University of Plymouth, Dr Clare Pettinger, will give a talk about the history of the Cornish pasty and a variety of other fun food fashions that have come and gone over the last century.
Did you know the first ever pasty recipe could hail from Devon? Have you ever eaten junket or hogs pudding? Is the best way to eat a cream tea with jam on the bottom or on top of the clotted cream?
Join Clare for an informative and light-hearted look at just how important the pasty and other regional favourites are to the South West.
